The Río Grande del Norte has benefited from an extensive community process that has been open and transparent, and has engaged local, state, national and Native American interests.
Beyond the protection of nationally significant natural features like the Río Grande Gorge and Taos Plateau, a Río Grande del Norte National Monument would protect and pay tribute to the heart of one of the oldest continually habituated landscapes on the continent.
